Fine steel® shot peening and shot blasting is used for parts that require a fine surface finish in addition to the cleaning and deburring provided by steel shot peening applied using a high velocity blast stream, fine shot produces fine dimples on the part's surface, resulting in a smooth, clean surface.
Peening with steel shot improves the strength and fatigue life of lighter-weight metals, allowing them to be used for applications that require a high strength-to-weight ratio, such as automotive applications. Use of fine-sized shot ensures a polished surface.
